In a grand finale held at the Silverbird Galleria, Lagos, Michael Mazi-Michael, a registered nurse with passion for fitness and well-being, emerged winner of the Mr. World Nigeria 2024 pageant.
The event which took place on Sunday, attracted a notable crowd of fashion enthusiasts, entertainment personalities and media representatives. A panel of judges, including renowned fashion designer – Frank Osodi, former beauty queen – Anita Uwagbale and media personality – Deji Bakare, had the difficult task of selecting the winner from a field of 10 outstanding finalists.
The contestants showcased their talents, charisma and poise on stage, vying for the coveted title. Ultimately, Michael’s impressive performance captivated both the judges and audience, securing him the crown.
“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and joy,” Michael expressed after his victory. “Winning Mr. World Nigeria 2024 is a dream come true. It’s a validation of my hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I’m humbled by the trust and confidence placed in me and I’m eager to make Nigeria proud on the global stage.”
Michael takes over the title from BBNaija ex-housemate, Prince Nelson, who has held the position since 2018. As Mr. World Nigeria 2024, Michael will now represent Nigeria at the international Mr. World pageant.
In a chat with People n Places, Group Head of Digital Media for Silverbird Group, Olorunfemi Joshua, discussed the pageant’s return after a six-year hiatus. “With the successful revival of the Mr. World Nigeria pageant, we’re committed to making it an annual event. The six-year hiatus allowed us to restructure, rebrand and refocus our efforts to ensure the pageant’s relevance and impact.” he said.
