Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko are set to name a former Hearts of Oak coach as replacement for Prosper Ogum who has parted ways with the Porcupine Warriors.

Ogum has left his role as head coach on Monday, April 21, 2025 following a poor streak of results recorded in the Ghana Premier League.

The Ghana Premier League record winners succumbed to a 2-0 loss to regional rivals Nations FC on Sunday at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.

The result leaves Kotoko without a win in their last 4 games in the league [2 losses | 2 draws].

According to sources in Kumasi, the base of the club, the club’s hierarchy has already established contact with Abdul Karim Zito to take over the mantle.

Zito has managed Kotoko in a previous spell. However, he has also had a stint with Kotoko’s bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak.

The Dreams FC head coach and technical director was the coach of the Phobians 17 years ago but he was fired after just six games in charge. The then Hearts management led by Harry Zakkour dismissed him from his post and later rendered an apology to the Phobians fraternity.
