President Mahama opens door to Japanese investors in Ghana at TICAD 9

H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has said that his Ghanaian government administration has operationalised an open door policy for all foreign investors in Ghana and Japanese investors are welcome to the West African nation.

President Mahama, who was the keynote speaker at the Forum of the 2025 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-9) held at the Hyatt Regency Yokohama, made the statement during his speech.

The forum which marks a pivotal moment in the enduring partnership between Ghana and Japan, a relationship built on mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.

The Ghanaian President is one of a number of African leaders who participated in the TICAD-9 event.

“Ghana stands ready to engage with Japanese businesses, investors, and development partners to unlock transformative opportunities across various’ sectors, including’ infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing, renewable energy, and digital innovation,” he said.

Furthermore, he highlighted his government’s initiative to explore a 24-hour economy to open up the economy of Ghana.

“With bold new initiatives like the 24-Hour Economy and the National Infrastructure Development Programme (Big Push), Ghana is positioning itself as a dynamic gateway to Africa’s vast market.
