The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that a suspect has been arrested and currently assisting with investigations into the murder of Ghana Immigration Service official, Stephen King Amoah.

Amoah, who was reported missing for a period of five days, was discovered dead on Tuesday in a gutter near a Ghana Broadcasting Service satellite opposite Comet Estate in Accra.

According to the statement revealed by the police, investigations revealed that on 3rd July 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., the deceased left his residence at Ashongman Estate after receiving WhatsApp images of cash bundles from one Bright Aweh, who requested to meet him at a Spot, at Ashongman Estate to settle an outstanding amount. According to the complainant, the deceased never returned home that night, and his phone remained switched off thereafter.

The statement further stated that: “Subsequent Police operations led to the arrest of suspect Bright Aweh, who admitted during interrogation to having given the deceased GHS 500,000.00 in cash. He claimed to have directed the deceased to use part of the money to pay off some debts and hold the remaining amount for later collection. However, the suspect could not clearly explain the source of the funds and gave conflicting statements.”
