Ghana once again will be absent from the next edition of the U20 FIFA World Cup after Egypt eliminated the West African powerhouse from the ongoing U20 AFCON tournament on Monday.

The last time the Black Satellites played at the FIFA tournament was in 2015 when they were eliminated in the round of 16 by fellow African side Mali following a 3-0 defeat.

Egypt, who are the host of the tournament, prevailed over the one-time world champions following a 5-4 victory in the penalty shootouts.

The four representatives from Africa for the 2025 edition of the U20 FIFA World Cup which will take place in Chile are already decided with South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, and Nigeria.

Ghana made a brave attempt having staged a comeback from 2-0 down to send the game to extra-time and eventually to penalties which was won by the North Africans.
