Niger international striker Daniel Sosah has pointed accusing fingers at the Ghana Football Association.
In an interview with Accra-based radio station Original FM, the Ghana-born striker revealed that he had offered to represent Ghana at the U23 level just before the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the interview with Nana Yaw Opoku, the Ukraine-based forward revealed that someone at the Ghana FA asked him to pay money before he would be offered the opportunity to play for Ghana.
“I had scored around 40 goals in Guinea at the time and I had had offers from Guinea to represent them at the youth level but I turned it down because I truly wanted to represent my country. So my agents called the Ghana FA and spoke to them in French and I also spoke in Twi with the person. In the end they were asking me to pay money before I would be allowed to play for the national Under 23 side,” he said.
Sosah, 26, subsequently switched nationality to represent Niger and even played an instrumental role for the Menas as they defeated Ghana’s Black Stars 2-1 in a 2025 AFCON qualifier in Accra.
In recent months, some players have levelled bribery allegations against the Ghana FA administration led by Kurt Okraku with another Niger player of Ghanaian descent Najeeb Yakubu revealing that he was dropped from the Black Stars squad because he had previously turned down an offer from Dreams FC – the club owned and bankrolled by the incumbent GFA President.
Below is the video of Sosah speaking with Nana Yaw Opoku on Original TV in Accra.
