John Mahama, Ghana’s President-Elect, has nominated Alban Bagbin, as the Speaker of the 9th Parliament of the fourth Republic of the country.

Bagbin, Speaker of the 8th Parliament, is regarded by many to have distinguished himself during his reign as the Speaker of the house of legislature.

According to sources within the incoming ruling party, the National Democratic Congress, the President-Elect has informed Members of Parliament to vote overwhelmingly for Bagbin to retain his seat as the Speaker of the House.

John Mahama will be sworn into office as the 6th President of the fourth republic, replacing outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo who spent two terms as President of the West African country.
