Drunk police officer frees 13 detainees to celebrate New Year in Zambia

Zambia Police officer Titus Phiri has been arrested and placed under investigations for freeing 13 police cells detainees under the influence of alcohol.

According to the Zambia Police Service, the force has launched a manhunt for the 13 perps who are all on the run.

Detective Inspector Titus Phiri of the Leonard Cheelo Police Post, who was intoxication, seized the cell keys for both the male and female and freed all the detainees ordering them to go and enjoy the 2025 New Year celebrations.

The Zambia Police Service reiterates its commitment to upholding law and order and assures the public that decisive action will be taken against any officer found to be abusing their authority or acting contrary to the law,” the statement said.
