The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has emphasised the importance of Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) as effective means for spreading the gospel.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by Mr. Samuel Bakutana, the President of the Provincial Fathers’ Union, during the Provincial Mothers’ Union MDD competitions at St. Janani Luwum Schools in Bombo, Luwero Diocese, Archbishop Kaziimba highlighted that MDD not only disseminates the gospel but also nurtures faith and strengthens marriages and families.

“I commend the Mothers’ Union for organizing these music competitions. They are vital tools for preaching the gospel and building our faith, marriages, and families,” he stated.

He expressed gratitude to the leadership of Janani Schools for hosting the event and acknowledged the choirs for their participation, ranging from diocesan to provincial levels.

“I congratulate you for advancing through these levels to the Provincial stage. This is no small feat, as music, dance, and drama require significant time, resources, and commitment,'” the Archbishop added.

The Diocese of West Ankole emerged victorious in the competition, followed by the Diocese of Northern Uganda in second place and the Diocese of Lango in third.

Other participating dioceses included Namirembe, Mukono, Central Busoga, Bukedi, and South Rwenzori.

Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni of West Ankole Diocese attributed their success to the dedication, resources, and time invested in the competitions.
