Formed during the height of the Cold War, the Non-Aligned Movement served as a middle ground for countries unwilling to ally themselves with either the United States or the Soviet Union.

Today, it represents over half the world’s population but with the collapse of the USSR, how much relevance does it have today?

As the group meets in Uganda, the BBC’s Esther Kahumbi explains what the movement is and what it means for people today.
