Tanzania has lifted its ban imposed on Agricultural produce from South Africa and Malawi to pave way for diplomatic discussions over the row that has ensued between the three countries.
Dar Es Salaam imposed a ban on all agricultural produce from South Africa and Malawi as retaliatory measures after the two countries imposed similar bans on Tanzanian produce.
Joseph Ndunguru, the Director General for the Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority (TPHPA), said that Tanzania was lifting the ban effective immediately to allow for “a diplomatic ministerial discussion.”
According to reports both South Africa and Malawi had reached out to Tanzania to commence a ministerial diplomatic discussion to resolve the issues.
All three countries caught in the impasse are all members of the regional body Southern African Development Community (SADC).
