Liberia’s President, Joseph Boakai is reportedly feeling well a day after he suffered heat exhaustion during his own inauguration on Monday.
The heat exhaustion forced him to cut short his inauguration speech after aides had to help him walk away from the podium, curtailing the ceremony.
The 79-year-old who is Liberia’s oldest ever president has however resumed his normal duties, the presidency said in a statement.
“He has resumed his normal activities. He is expected to meet with the Ghanaian President and other dignitaries today,” the statement added.
Liberian Speaker of parliament Jonathan Koffa has denied social media reports that President Boakai is unwell despite.

He told reporters that he met Boakai, 79, after the ceremony and that the president was “well and in good health”.
Although the inauguration ceremony ended abruptly, Boakai had already taken the oath of office before the exhaustion.
In his truncated speech, Boakai pledged to fight corruption, fix the economy, uphold the rule of law and ensure justice for victims of the country’s past civil wars.
“I come to rekindle our hopes,” the new president said in his speech.
Boakai defeated football star-cum politician George Weah in a runoff election in November last year.
He was vice-president under former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf from 2006 till 2018 but he lost to Mr Weah.
