Ghanaian residents in Japan have observed an interdenominational service in commemoration of the West African country’s 68th Independence Day celebration.
The event was organised by the Embassy of Ghana in Japan in collaboration with Ghanaian churches on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the Koiwa Catholic Church in Edogawa, Tokyo, radiated a spirit of national pride, passion and essence of enthusiasm and unity.
On Thursday, March 6, 2025, Ghana held a modest ceremony to mark its 68th Independence Anniversary with a parade mounted by only the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) at the Jubilee House in Accra.
And, Ghanaians in Japan from all walks of lives, specifically within Tokyo and it’s surrounding neighbourhood and cities joined in the services to express their appreciation and gratitude to God for protecting the nation.
Several others also joined the service via Jafriq Radio’s Facebook platform which streamed the over-an-hour event live.
Speaking at the event, the Guest of Honour for the occasion, H.E. Genevieve Edna Apaloo devoted her gratitude to God and expressed hopes that the country will flourish under good leadership.
Ghana gained independence from Britain on 6th March 1957 after Dr. Kwame Nkrumah declared independence after freeing the country from colonial rule.
