Ghana’s Black Queens failed to reach the final of the 2025 CAF Women’s African Cup of Nations after succumbing to a 4-2 penalty shootout defeat to host nation Morocco on Tuesday night.
The West Africans opened the scoring through German-based forward Josephine Kyerewaa on the 26th minute to give Ghana hopes of reaching the final for the first time since 2006.
However, Sakina Diki pulled parity for the host nation when the Costa Adeje Tenerife forward capitalised on a flaw in the Ghanaian defence to score her first goal of the tournament.
Neither of the side was able to snatch the win within regular time and extra-time as the tie headed for the penalty shootouts.
Evelyn Badu and 18-year-old Comfort Yeboah missed the last two kicks for Ghana as Morocco converted all their four kicks to set up a date of Nigeria who had already beaten South Africa in the other semifinal contest.
