BREAKING: 6.4 magnitude earthquake hits Japan

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 has hit the Southwestern parts of Japan on Monday.

According to the Meteorological Agency, the quake hit the region around 21:19 Japanese Standard Time measuring a lower than 5 on the Japanese seismic scale of 7 which struck parts of Miyazaki Prefecture.

Miyazaki, located on the island of Kyushu, sits about 560 miles to the southwest of Tokyo.

In August 2024, an earthquake struck the city of Miyazaki, causing damage to several homes and properties.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has also issued a tsunami warning to people living in the area to observe precautionary measures.

Any casualties have not been reported yet.
