Award-winning Ghanaian highlife singer Akosua Agyapong thrills Japanese audience at Emperor’s birthday celebration

Akosua Agyapong performed to the delight of Japanese workers at the Japan Embassy in Accra

Celebrated Ghanaian highlife singer Akosua Agyapong was the toast of Japanese audience during her performance at an event to mark the celebration of the birthday Japanese Emperor at the Japanese Embassy in Accra, Ghana last week.

Agyapong, 55, performed some of her best songs to the Japanese workers at the Embassy who danced to the nice Ghanaian highlife tunes.

Agyapong began singing at an early age and was discovered in the 1990s by highlife artiste Nana Ampadu, a highlife legend.

Her first album, Frema, was released on January 1, 1990. Frema had songs such as “Me ye Obaa” that became instant hits, in addition to other tracks, such as “Born again”, “Anan tuo”, and “San be hwe wo mba” among others.
