Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been crowned champions of the 2025 CAF Women’s African Cup of Nations after staging a commanding comeback to defeat host nation Morocco 3-2 in the final at the Stade Olympique de Rabat in Rabat on Saturday.
The Falcons, who had won 9 of the previous editions of the competition, were trailing 2-0 at halftime after Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy scored to hand the North Africans a decent lead.
However, the Falcons stunned the Moroccans by mounting a remarkable second-half comeback to secure a 3-2 victory.
Esther Okoronkwo was the first to halve the deficit for the West Africans when she converted a penalty in the 64th minute before Florence Ijamilusi netted on the 71st to level things up for the Falcons.
The entire nation of Morocco were shocked when Jennifer Echegini stunned them with the match-winner on the 88th minute.
